A New Generation of Tesla’s Cybertrucks Will Start Production Next Year: Musk

The polygonal Tesla Cybertruck, which garnered headlines in 2019 for its incredibly avant-garde look, might take its sweet time to arrive in dealerships. Tesla CEO Elon Musk stated that full-volume production of the future vehicle won’t begin until 2024 during a conference call to discuss the company’s fourth-quarter results.

According to reports, the Cybertruck was supposed to enter mass production in late 2023, a goal set in the second quarter of last year. However, that has since been postponed. Although Musk stated that major production won’t begin until next year, he did affirm that manufacturing will begin “sometime this summer.”

Most of the Cybertruck’s production is anticipated to take place at Austin, Texas’s Tesla Gigafactory. According to reports, installation of production-related equipment, such as castings and body shops for general assembly, has already started.

The production of the Cybertruck has experienced delays before. The original production schedule was for a late 2021 release, however, Covid-19 caused a delay. The specifications and cost of the Cybertruck will probably alter as well, as Musk stated to investors last year.

Due to the Tesla Cybertruck’s delayed manufacture, the market for electric trucks may already be oversaturated by the time it makes its appearance. The popularity of EVs like the F-150 Lightning, Rivian R1T, and RAM 1500 EV may increase, making the Cybertruck face much tougher competition than it would have otherwise.
