Musk’s xAI is preparing to launch its first AI model for select groups

The CEO of Tesla (TSLA.O) and billionaire Elon Musk announced on Friday that his artificial intelligence business, xAI, will present its first AI model to a small group on Saturday.

This occurred about a year after the release of OpenAI’s ChatGPT, which sparked a global upsurge in applying generative AI technologies by capturing the interest of companies and individuals alike.

Musk left the board of OpenAI, the enterprise that created ChatGPT, in 2018, despite having co-founded the company in 2015.

“In some important respects, it (xAI’s new model) is the best currently,” he posted on his X social media platform.

“As soon as it’s out of early beta, xAI’s Grok system will be available to all X Premium+ subscribers,” Musk posted.

Last week, X—previously known as Twitter—launched two new subscription tiers: a $16 monthly Premium+ premium for consumers desiring an ad-free experience and a $3 monthly basic level.

The entrepreneur, who has criticized Big Tech’s AI initiatives and what he terms “censorship,” announced earlier this year that he will compete with Microsoft’s (MSFT.O) Bing AI and Google’s (GOOGL.O) Bard AI by launching a maximal truth-seeking AI that seeks to comprehend the nature of the cosmos.

The creators of xAI, which debuted in July, are from Microsoft’s DeepMind, Google, and other prestigious AI research companies.

X and xAI are two different firms, yet they collaborate closely. xAI collaborates with Tesla as well as other businesses.

In September, Larry Ellison, a friend of Musk and co-founder of Oracle (ORCL.N), said that xAI had secured a contract to train its AI model on Oracle’s cloud.
