Ahmed Detta, Founder & CEO of Enviroo Holdings Limited, is a purpose-driven leader, and throughout his career, Ahmed has been driven to make the purposeful change. As the CEO of Enviroo, Ahmed is passionate about leading the industry and being vocal about how the industry needs to change.
“I am dedicated to supporting change and, being purpose-driven, I will only stop once a solution is found. I find work-life balance easy when the work I do is fully completed with quality, and that’s so important to me. We should not see a work-life divide; instead, we should all be doing things we are passionate about,” says Ahmed.
What sparked Ahmed’s business idea?
Ahmed started working in the IT sector, specifically in green data centers and sustainable technology. This first sparked his passion for combining business and sustainability; he knew he wanted to impact this sector.
While working in the UAE, Ahmed saw the waste problem and the need to reimagine recycling. With his background in sustainability and business Ahmed realized that he could make a difference and create a business model whereby everyone profits from recycling – most notably our natural world. He felt passionate about developing this business model, becoming a leader, and reimagining how we all recycle.
While working in the UAE, Ahmed focused on the circular economy and realized the region needed direction in recycling a wide range of electronic products. He helped set up a mobile phone collections business called The Green Foundation.
“At Enviroo we use innovative technology that segments PET plastic from other supporting components through a highly sophisticated synthesized washing process coupled with a world-class extrusion process. The result is the creation of polymers that can be used in direct food contact packaging,” says Ahmed.

Enviroo Holdings Limited, founded in 2018, provides a solution to post-consumer plastic waste. The company recycles 100% of PET plastic waste and creates ‘food-grade’ polymers used to recreate food packaging and plastic bottles.
Innovation is necessary in an industry that has traditionally been viewed as inefficient and needs improvement in terms of transparency. The recycling industry needs to be reimagined, and Enviroo is doing just this.
The company has created a closed-loop recycling method with long-term viability, ensuring transparency, circularity, and sustainability. Enviroo’s executive team is adept at identifying opportunities where plastic recycling can be accelerated or improved from current processes and has developed local market insights to support the ever-growing plastic waste problem.
“The company will go from the planning phase to operational. I will change from fundraising to a full-time managing director leading 50+ people and an operational plant,” says Ahmed.
Flagship campaign: Driving businesses to support communities with social purpose
Take the campaign Ahmed founded, “Give a Child a Smile for Life,” which helped raise money through recycling mobile phones to support surgery for children with cleft palates. This campaign cemented his desire to focus his career on driving business to support communities and have a social purpose.
Afterward, Ahmed established the commercial feasibility, technical design, location selection, permits, approvals, and environmental business case of a PET recycling facility in the Middle East, a project that a global conglomerate took over.

“Every leader should inspire, and I want to inspire the next generation to build on the circular economy and reinvent recycling. As today’s leaders, we must pave the way for tomorrow,” asserts Ahmed.

“My goal is for Enviroo to make tangible change in the recycling industry – reinventing the circular economy model, making plastics recycling habitual in society’s everyday behavior, and instilling the belief that profiteering from this is suitable for all in the process,” assures Ahmed.
