X has introduced a new feature that automatically displays notes on images within matching posts. This enhancement streamlines the viewing experience for users by providing contextual information directly on the images themselves.
Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, recently unveiled a groundbreaking initiative aimed at combating the spread of deceptive media, including deepfakes. Musk emphasized the significance of this endeavor in countering both deepfakes and their less sophisticated counterparts, known as shallowfakes.
Shallowfakes, distinct from deepfakes due to their creation without the aid of artificial intelligence, encompass manipulated photos, videos, and voice clips produced using readily available editing tools. In alignment with this, X has integrated a feature where notes on images are automatically surfaced on posts containing matching visuals.
A company spokesperson highlighted the widespread application of these notes, indicating that they may align with numerous posts, ranging from dozens to even thousands. This feature provides users with valuable insights into the prevalence of image notes across various posts.
