Netflix appoints Lori Conkling as Head of Licensing, leveraging her expertise to expand its content library. She brings experience from YouTube, NBCU & Disney.
Netflix has brought on industry veteran Lori Conkling as its new Head of Licensing, tasking her with leading content acquisition for TV and film in the U.S. In this role, she will work to expand Netflix’s already extensive library, ensuring the platform remains competitive and continues to offer compelling content to its global audience.
Conkling comes to Netflix with an impressive background in entertainment and media. She most recently served as Global Head of TV, Film, and Sports Partnerships at YouTube, where she played a key role in business development, content packaging, and programming for YouTube TV and the platform’s various ad-supported and subscription-based services. She was also instrumental in sports licensing deals, including the high-profile Sunday Ticket agreement with the NFL.
Announcing her new role on LinkedIn, Conkling expressed enthusiasm about her next chapter: “After six amazing years at YouTube, I have taken on the role of Head of Licensing at Netflix, overseeing content acquisition for TV & Film content in the U.S. I am excited to join this incredible team and look forward to continuing to find ways to super-serve our members. Prior to YouTube, Conkling was Executive Vice President of Strategy and Business Development for Digital Enterprises at NBCUniversal, where she played a pivotal role in shaping digital strategies, overseeing investments, and securing key commercial deals. Her extensive experience also includes leadership positions in distribution at The Walt Disney Company, Lifetime Networks, and A+E Networks. Notably, during her tenure at Disney, she was a driving force behind the launch of ESPNU, ESPN’s college sports network.
Conkling holds a B.S. in Business Administration from the University of Southern California and an MBA from Duke University. With her wealth of experience and deep industry connections, her addition to Netflix signals a strong push to enhance the platform’s licensing strategy and secure top-tier content for its subscribers.
