Ryan Roslansky, the former LinkedIn CEO and Microsoft executive vice president, is set to leave Microsoft at the end of 2026, closing an 18-year chapter across LinkedIn and Microsoft.
Ryan Roslansky is preparing to step away from Microsoft at the end of this year after nearly two decades of leadership across LinkedIn and the broader Microsoft ecosystem.
Roslansky confirmed his departure in a LinkedIn post, saying that after nearly 18 years at LinkedIn and Microsoft, he would be leaving at the end of 2026. Microsoft has also confirmed the move, noting that Roslansky will continue through the end of the calendar year as an Advisor to Microsoft Chairman and CEO Satya Nadella, helping support the leadership transition.
His exit marks another significant change in the leadership structure surrounding some of Microsoft’s most widely used professional and productivity platforms.
From LinkedIn Product Leader to CEO
Roslansky’s journey at LinkedIn began in May 2009, when he joined the professional networking company as Chief Product Officer. In that role, he was responsible for leading LinkedIn’s product teams at a time when the platform was expanding its role in the professional lives of millions of users.
Over the years, his responsibilities grew alongside LinkedIn’s evolution from a professional networking site into a broader platform spanning recruiting, advertising, learning, content and business services.
In 2020, Roslansky became LinkedIn’s Chief Executive Officer, succeeding Jeff Weiner. His tenure as CEO coincided with major shifts in the workplace, including the rapid adoption of remote and hybrid work and growing demand for digital professional networks.
He remained CEO until April 2026, before moving into a broader Microsoft leadership role.
A Broader Microsoft Role
In April 2025, Roslansky became an Executive Vice President at Microsoft. His responsibilities expanded beyond LinkedIn to include a group overseeing some of Microsoft’s most recognizable workplace and communication products, including LinkedIn, Microsoft Office, Outlook and Teams.
The role placed Roslansky at the intersection of Microsoft’s professional networking, productivity and collaboration businesses.
His departure now comes as Microsoft continues to reshape its leadership structure around these businesses.
Microsoft said Roslansky will remain connected to Nadella as an advisor until the end of 2026, allowing him to help ensure continuity during the transition.
Leadership Changes Across Microsoft
Roslansky’s departure comes alongside a series of leadership changes that took effect on October 1.
At LinkedIn, Dan Shapero will continue as Chief Executive Officer, while Shapero and Mohak Shroff will report directly to Satya Nadella.
Other executives will also move into reporting structures under different Microsoft leaders. Sumit Chauhan and Lan Ye will report to Charles Lamanna, while Jon Friedman will report to Jacob Andreou.
The changes reflect Microsoft’s continuing effort to streamline leadership responsibilities as its businesses increasingly converge around cloud computing, productivity software, professional networking and artificial intelligence.
A Career Spanning Yahoo, Entrepreneurship and LinkedIn
Roslansky’s career in technology began well before LinkedIn.
He held General Management and Product Management roles at Yahoo between December 1999 and June 2004, working across several product categories, including commerce, classifieds, directories and search.
He later co-founded Housing Media, where he served as CEO from January 1997 to July 2007. The company operated internet directories focused on property sales and rentals, giving Roslansky early experience in building and managing digital marketplace businesses.
From May 2007 to May 2009, he served as Senior Vice President, Products & Content, at Glam Media. His responsibilities included consumer, advertiser, publisher, and developer products across the company’s network.
That combination of entrepreneurial experience, product management and digital media leadership eventually became a foundation for his long tenure at LinkedIn.
Beyond the CEO Office
Roslansky has also maintained an active presence in the wider technology and media ecosystem.
Since May 2023, he has served as a Member of the Board of Trustees at The Paley Center for Media, a role that connects his technology leadership experience with the broader media industry.
He previously served on the Intuit Board of Directors from May 2023 to January 2026 and on the GoDaddy Board of Directors from August 2018 to January 2023.
These board roles have added another dimension to a career largely defined by product strategy, technology platforms and digital businesses.
What Comes Next for Ryan Roslansky?
Roslansky’s departure closes an important chapter in his professional relationship with LinkedIn and Microsoft, but the industry will be watching his next move closely.
During nearly 18 years at LinkedIn and Microsoft, he moved from product leadership to the CEO position and ultimately into a broader executive role overseeing major Microsoft businesses.
At Microsoft, his continued advisory role through the end of 2026 provides a transition period. For LinkedIn, the continuation of Dan Shapero as CEO offers stability as the platform navigates a rapidly changing professional landscape increasingly shaped by AI, automation, and the future of work.
Roslansky’s exit is therefore more than the departure of a senior executive. It represents the end of a long technology leadership journey that began with product development and entrepreneurship and eventually reached the highest levels of one of the world’s largest technology companies.
