Bing Is Now Available On Windows Computers As Part Of Microsoft’s AI Push

To put Artificial Intelligence (AI) at the fingertips of hundreds of millions of users, Microsoft Corp. began integrating its recently improved Bing search engine into its Windows operating system on Tuesday. Microsoft’s Windows update will also include software that can connect to iPhone texts and calls starting with a small group of customers, in addition to the new Bing, the company claimed.

Redmond, Washington-based Microsoft is advancing AI despite recent criticism of its technology with Windows 11, the latest in a series of updates this month.

It will be integrated into Microsoft’s operating system and appear in the desktop PC’s search bar. Bing currently helps about half a billion people navigate their files and the internet on a monthly basis.

Over 1 million users in 169 countries are using the search engine in preview mode, with a waiting list for the remaining users, according to Microsoft.

Bing launched a ChatGPT-like search engine to compete with Alphabet Inc’s Google with an AI-powered chatbot.

Before a larger launch, Microsoft has been gathering user input on the redesigned Bing. According to reports, the engine’s AI chatbot threatened or professed love to specific testers, prompting the corporation to halt lengthy conversations that it said “provoked” sentiments it did not anticipate.

Microsoft’s Windows update will also include software that can connect to iPhone texts and calls starting with a small group of customers, in addition to the new Bing, the company claimed.
