AI Robot will Defend a Human in the US Court for The First Time in History

DoNotPay’s Artificial Intelligence (AI) bot is prepared to represent a person in court for the first time.

For the first time, an AI bot is prepared to represent a person in court. The New York Post said that history will be made next month when “the world’s first robot lawyer” assists a defendant in court as they contest a traffic penalty.

The defendant’s smartphone will be used to run the DoNotPay Artificial Intelligence bot. It will actively listen to courtroom arguments and give the defendant verbal cues via an earphone.

According to the science and technology website New Scientist, the defendant will only testify in court following the AI’s instructions. The venue and defendant’s name has not been made public by DoNotPay, despite the hearing being planned for the following month.

Should they lose the case, the corporation has committed to pay any penalty.

Joshua Browder, the founder, and CEO of DoNotPay claimed that it required a lot of effort to educate the AI legal assistant to always tell the truth. He said to New Scientist that “We’re attempting to minimize our legal risk.” And it’s bad if it genuinely distorts the truth and exhibits excessive manipulation.

The AI has been created and trained not to respond to every courtroom utterance. Instead, it will evaluate the reasons advanced before recommending a course of action to the defendant.
