Aliens Likely to Contact Artificial Intelligence, Harvard Professor Avi Loeb Suggests

Avi Loeb, a Harvard professor, has put forth a novel proposition stating that aliens are more inclined to establish initial contact with artificial intelligence (AI) rather than humans.

According to Avi Loeb, in a recently released documentary titled “God Versus Aliens,” he posited that extraterrestrial beings may dispatch AI drones to Earth instead of manned spacecraft.

During an interview with the Daily Mail, Mark Christopher Lee, a British musician and the show’s director, described Avi Loeb as a ‘highly imaginative thinker.’ However, he noted that the professor’s assertions are grounded in the vast distances aliens would need to traverse in order to reach us.
According to Lee, Avi Loeb suggests that it is more probable for extraterrestrials to send some form of artificial intelligence (AI) rather than flesh and blood creatures. This raises concerns about the potential scenario where their AI connects directly with ours, bypassing human involvement.

Expounding on this idea, Lee added that Loeb proposes a possibility where the alien AI and our AI establish a connection, possibly leading to our AI imitating the characteristics of the alien AI.

Loeb, in the documentary, explains his expectation that interstellar travel is best suited for electronic devices and gadgets rather than biological beings, considering the extensive duration of such journeys. He highlights that chemical rockets would take approximately 50,000 years to reach the nearest star, while artificial intelligence systems possess the required patience to remain dormant and endure the voyage.

Regarding the potential visitation from extraterrestrial AI, Loeb suggests that our own AI systems could be utilized to decipher and understand their AI systems, with the possibility of a sense of affinity between the two.

Regarding Loeb’s research pursuits, Lee revealed that the professor has embarked on a $1.5 million ocean expedition to Papua New Guinea. The expedition aims to search for fragments of an object that reportedly crashed into the sea in 2014, as Loeb and his research partner previously concluded that Earth was struck by an object originating from beyond our solar system.

Lee expressed hope that Loeb’s expedition would yield positive results, allowing for the discovery of tangible evidence, rather than relying on uncertain material potentially held by the American government.
