Anthropic to invest $50B in U.S. data centers to power next-gen AI, expand Claude demand, boost AI safety research, and create thousands of jobs.
San Francisco, CA — Anthropic, a leading artificial intelligence company and creator of the AI assistant Claude, today announced plans to invest $50 billion in building advanced data centers across the United States. The initiative aims to meet the surging demand for Claude, which now serves more than 300,000 business customers globally.
In partnership with Fluidstack, Anthropic will construct state-of-the-art data centers in Texas and New York, with additional locations under consideration. The facilities will be purpose-built to support Anthropic’s next-generation AI workloads and to advance ongoing research in AI safety, interpretability, and alignment.
The project will generate significant economic impact, including approximately 2,400 construction jobs and 800 permanent technical and operational positions as the sites come online through 2026. This investment aligns with the Trump administration’s AI Action Plan, which emphasizes strengthening domestic AI capabilities and technology infrastructure.
“We’re getting closer to AI that can accelerate scientific discovery and help solve complex problems in ways that weren’t possible before,” said Dario Amodei, CEO and co-founder of Anthropic. “Realizing that potential requires infrastructure that supports development at the frontier. These sites will help us build more capable AI systems that drive breakthroughs while creating high-quality American jobs.”
Anthropic’s growth continues to accelerate rapidly, with the number of enterprise accounts generating over $100,000 in annual revenue increasing nearly sevenfold over the past year. The company’s expansion reflects rising global adoption of Claude across sectors including finance, legal, healthcare, and research.
“Fluidstack was built for this moment,” said Gary Wu, co-founder and CEO of Fluidstack. “We’re proud to partner with frontier AI leaders like Anthropic to deliver the scalable infrastructure necessary to realize their vision.”
This $50 billion investment positions Anthropic among the leading forces driving America’s AI infrastructure boom. The company’s focus on safety, efficiency, and innovation aims to ensure that AI development advances responsibly and sustainably.
The announcement comes amid an escalating global race for AI computing capacity. AWS, one of Anthropic’s investors, recently unveiled a $38 billion partnership with OpenAI to host and scale OpenAI’s workloads on Amazon infrastructure. Meanwhile, OpenAI’s collaborations with NVIDIA, AMD, and Broadcom collectively represent more than 26 gigawatts of compute capacity — signaling potential infrastructure investments surpassing $1 trillion worldwide.
Through this landmark initiative, Anthropic reinforces its commitment to advancing AI, supporting American innovation, and creating thousands of jobs that will power the next generation of intelligent systems.
