China has claimed “sovereignty” over the Indian region of Arunachal Pradesh after India rejected China’s attempt to rename places in the region. China’s Ministry of Civil Affairs released names of 11 places in Arunachal Pradesh and referred to the region as “Zangnan, the southern part of Tibet.
” However, India’s Ministry of External Affairs has stated that Arunachal Pradesh is and will always be an integral part of India, and attempts to assign invented names will not change this reality.
The White House has also strongly opposed China’s attempts to advance a claim over Indian territory. According to reports, China has announced the names of 11 places in Arunachal Pradesh, and this is the third batch of geographical names it has released in the region.
However, India has rejected these attempts, and its Ministry of External Affairs has stated that China had also tried to assign such names in April 2017. India has always maintained that Arunachal Pradesh is an integral part of its territory.
