Neuralink put its first chip in the brain of a paralyzed patient named Noland Arbaugh following years of testing.
Elon Musk, the tech entrepreneur, has boldly predicted that Neuralink gadgets could soon replace cell phones.
The prediction was made by the owner of Tesla in response to a question posed by a parody account called Not Elon Musk on the social media platform X: “Would you install a Neuralink interface on your brain to allow you to control your new X phone by thinking?”
Musk replied, saying, “In the future, there will be no phones, just Neuralinks.
“A technological startup called Neuralink is developing a gadget “designed to connect human brains directly to computers”.After years of testing on animals, Neuralink implanted its first brain-computer interface (BCI) in the brain of 29-year-old paralyzed veteran Noland Arbaugh in January of this year, according to First Post.
Arbaugh was able to manipulate the mouse cursor and play games with his brain after the chip was implanted.
Musk made his remarks at a moment when Neuralink was developing brain chip technology at a rapid pace. But the business is also up against its share of difficulties.
Lindsay Short, a former Neuralink animal care specialist, has launched a lawsuit against the company, according to a New York Post report. She claims that when she was providing animal care, the brain chip did not offer the appropriate safety gear.
