HCA Healthcare

Hyderabad, India – U.S.-based healthcare giant HCA Healthcare has officially opened its first Global Capability Centre (GCC) in Hyderabad’s bustling HITEC City, marking a major milestone in the company’s global expansion strategy. The hospital operator has committed an investment of $75 million by 2025 and announced plans to grow its workforce in India by 3,000 professionals by 2026.

A Strategic Investment in India’s GCC Ecosystem

The newly inaugurated facility is located at Sattva Knowledge Park, spanning 400,000 sq. ft. across four floors. More than just a back-office hub, the Hyderabad GCC will serve as a powerhouse for digital innovation, technology-led solutions, and operational excellence, supporting HCA Healthcare’s vast network of 192 hospitals and 2,500 ambulatory care sites across the United States and United Kingdom.

With U.S.-based companies already accounting for nearly 60% of all GCCs in India, HCA Healthcare’s entry reinforces the country’s position as the global epicenter for capability centers. Healthcare and life sciences firms, in particular, are rapidly expanding their GCC presence in India, with over 300,000 professionals employed in the sector, according to consulting firm ANSR.

Driving Innovation Beyond Healthcare Operations

The Hyderabad centre will recruit across multiple business lines, including IT, supply chain, procurement, human resources, finance, and accounting, creating a diverse workforce aimed at driving value across HCA’s global operations.

“This centre will play a critical role in enhancing patient care across our global operations,” said Emily Duncan, Senior Vice President, Global Capability Network, HCA Healthcare, at the inauguration. She emphasized that the Hyderabad hub is designed not just to support operations but to act as an engine of innovation and transformation.

Inauguration with Key Industry Leaders

The inauguration was attended by Telangana IT and Industries Minister D Sridhar Babu, along with Emily Duncan and Atul Kapoor, Vice President and Hyderabad Centre Head, HCA Healthcare – India. During the event, leaders highlighted how the GCC will integrate India’s talent strength with HCA’s global healthcare expertise to redefine operational excellence in the sector.

The inauguration of our Hyderabad centre reflects our long-term commitment to the region,” Duncan added, reinforcing HCA’s confidence in India as a strategic hub for digital healthcare advancements.

India’s Rising Role in Global Healthcare Operations

HCA Healthcare’s expansion reflects a growing trend among U.S. healthcare firms leveraging India’s GCC ecosystem to accelerate digital transformation, improve patient outcomes, and streamline global operations. Hyderabad, in particular, has emerged as a preferred destination for healthcare and life sciences companies, thanks to its tech talent pool, advanced infrastructure, and strong government support.

With this launch, HCA Healthcare has joined the ranks of leading global firms driving innovation from India. The Hyderabad GCC is expected to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of healthcare operations, blending cutting-edge technology with patient-centered care on a global scale.
