As per a recent report by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurnman, which cited sources, Apple has started increasing the production of its Vision Pro mixed reality headsets at its facilities in China. The company aims to have units ready for customers by the end of January, and the headset might be released in February. The study did point out that unforeseen circumstances and last-minute production challenges could cause the launch timeline to fall through.
Apple’s email to software developers on Wednesday encouraged them to “get ready” for the mixed reality headset by testing their apps and delivering the software to Apple for feedback added to the anticipation surrounding the forthcoming release of the Vision Pro. “There’s so much more to come… and we can’t wait to see what the next year brings,” the business added in the developer’s email.
Due to the specialized components that must be built and packaged at the point of sale, Gurnman stated that the $3500 Vision Pro may be Apple’s most complicated product launch, requiring the company to develop entirely new distribution plans and tools. Specifically, if the content is not correctly positioned on the user’s head, the Apple Vision Pro might not display it appropriately.
According to the Bloomberg reports, Apple intends to send at least two staff members from each retail location to the Cupertino headquarters for training the following month. The store personnel will learn about the features of Vision Pro and what to emphasize when speaking with potential consumers during the two-day training sessions, which start in January and last for several days. To enhance the client experience, staff will also be trained to adjust the headband, optional prescription lenses, and light seal.
Launching Vision Pro in February, the Tim Cook-led company’s first new product category since it started producing wearables in 2015, will likely challenge Facebook parent Meta’s strong position in the headset industry.
