Apple has acknowledged that it has begun producing the just-released iPhone 14 series in India. At Foxconn’s factory in Sriperumbudur, Tamil Nadu, the devices will be created for both the Indian market and international export. For the first time, Apple started producing iPhones in India just a few weeks after introducing the line-up to the rest of the world.
After releasing four different varieties of the iPhone 14, Apple will begin producing the device in India starting in the next quarter. At the factory of its production partner Foxconn, which is situated close to Chennai, the tech giant will produce iPhone 14 versions.
It is believed that the new iPhone models will be commercially available in India by December this year, according to two industry experts cited in the publication (Q4 CY22).
Additionally, it is predicted that Apple will ship the most iPhones to India in the fourth quarter of 2022. (December quarter). According to experts, the IT giant will send more than 570K devices to India as opposed to 370K units during the same quarter last year.
It should be noted that Apple has gradually increased production delays in its Indian facilities. It reduced the production lead time for iPhone 13 from 10 to 12 months to 6 months, and it’s expected to reduce it again this year to 2 to 3 months.
After the Chinese government implied a zero-Covid policy in the nation, Apple moved its manufacturing centers to India. According to the policy, the government imposes local lockdowns, which hinders the production of iPhone components parts.
Apple recently released four iPhone 14 series models, ranging from INR 79,900 to INR 1,89,900. Except for the iPhone 14 Plus, which will be on sale from October 7th onward, the tech giant will start selling these iPhone 14 models in India from September 16th.
Apple’s three contract manufacturers are expected to produce 11–12 million iPhone 14 models nationwide.
An expert was quoted as saying that Apple would hit its production-related incentive objective in India thanks to the high cost of the new iPhone 14 series. He added that the iPhone 14 series would represent approximately 20 to 25 percent of all iPhone sales in the nation in Q4 of FY22.
According to predictions, Apple’s shipments to India would rise to 7.5 million, accounting for 47% of the country’s high-end mobile market and 4% of the entire mobile market.
According to Counterpoint’s analysis, Apple saw a 50% year-over-year (YoY) surge in its laptop and PC shipments to India in the first half of 2022.
But according to a CyberMedia Research estimate, the tech giant sold 1.2 million or more iPhones in India in the second quarter of 2022, representing a 94% year-over-year increase.
In addition, it disclosed that in the financial year 2022’s third quarter, March to June, it had a double-digit revenue increase in India.
