Indian interest in sovereign AI is attractive and has a lot to offer, says Michael Dell

Dell highlighted the advantages of artificial intelligence for businesses during the Vegas event, announcing notable advancements in the technology’s adoption across industries.

Michael Dell, chairman and CEO of Dell Technologies, has taken notice of India’s attempts to develop its own artificial intelligence playbook and aspirations to have a major influence in the field. India is a desirable market for a company like Dell because of its robust economy, abundance of IT talent, and drive to be a leader in artificial intelligence, according to the billionaire CEO of one of the biggest IT companies in the world and a top PC vendor.

During a roundtable discussion at the Dell Technologies World event, which began on Monday in Las Vegas, he said “India has talent and is a great resource for Dell and many other companies, but there is a desire for sovereign AI.”

New Delhi has positioned itself as a leader in artificial intelligence on the global stage, hoping to build its own AI ecosystem in addition to competing with big tech’s generative AI models. Nevertheless, this necessitates creating the AI computer infrastructure from the ground up in addition to designing and implementing native large language models and nurturing AI expertise. However, it might not be inexpensive to build a highly scalable AI computation infrastructure using the newest GPU generation. The Union Cabinet’s recent approval of the Rs 10,371.92 crore national-level India Artificial Intelligence initiative opens the door to building AI compute infrastructure and enhancing the local AI ecosystem through public-private partnerships.

During the Vegas event, Dell reported notable advancements in the industry’s adoption of AI and emphasized the advantages the technology may offer businesses. In partnership with Nvidia, it unveiled an AI factory to expedite enterprise AI integration. An AI Factory, as defined by Dell and Nvidia, is a clever assembly of the parts needed to implement AI solutions swiftly and easily.

“We are transitioning from computation to cognition as we enter the AI era. The goal of creating wall-mounted devices was to provide an automated method for tasks, as it took years before power was run through structures. With AI, that’s really where we are at the moment,” Dell remarked, speaking to a crowded auditorium full of partners.
