Indian MP Priyanka Chaturvedi pointed out to Ilhan Omar her visit to Pakistan-occupied Kashmir when Ilhan Omar expressed concerns about India’s actions in the US. US Congresswoman Ilhan Omar, who has a history of criticizing India, commented on the India-Canada dispute, calling for full US support for the Canadian investigation into India’s alleged involvement in the assassination of Sikh separatist leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar.
She also requested a briefing to explore potential similar operations in the United States. In response to Ilhan Omar, Indian MP Priyanka Chaturvedi stated that if such allegations are true, she, as an Indian Parliamentarian, would urge the Ministry of External Affairs to investigate Ilhan Omar’s 2022 visit to Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, which was reportedly funded by Pakistan.
Priyanka Chaturvedi of Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) MP added, “Madam Representative, please take a seat. If this is indeed the case, I, as an Indian Parliamentarian, call on @MEAIndia to initiate an inquiry into the interference by a US elected representative in the peace of Jammu & Kashmir through a Pakistan-funded visit to PoK.”
In 2022, Ilhan Omar visited Pakistan, where she met with Shehbaz Sharif and Imran Khan, and also traveled to Muzaffarabad in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. India criticized her visit as “narrow-minded politics” and condemned it.
Recent reports revealed that the Pakistani government sponsored Ilhan Omar’s visit, covering her accommodation and meals. Furthermore, Ilhan Omar was among those who boycotted Prime Minister Modi’s speech during his historic state visit to the US Congress joint session.
