According to official sources, around 5 lakh people are projected to be employed in India by iPhone maker Apple through its vendors throughout the next three years.
Currently, 1.5 lakh Indians are employed by Apple’s suppliers and partners. The largest employer is Tata Electronics, which manages two facilities for Apple.
“Apple is expanding its workforce in India. Through its vendors and component suppliers, it will, at most, hire five lakh people over the next three years, a senior government official told PTI.
Apple declined to comment on the projection when approached.

Samsung topped the list in terms of volume sales in 2023, while Apple dominated the Indian market with the greatest revenue for the first time, according to market research firm Counterpoint Research.
According to the company’s most recent report, Apple shipped over 10 million units and, for the first time, finished first in terms of sales in a calendar year.
The Trade Vision, a trade intelligence platform, reports that Apple’s iPhone exports from India increased dramatically to USD 12.1 billion in 2023–24 from USD 6.27 billion in 2022–23, a significant spike of about 100%.
