Utilizing patented technology, Up⤴️AI, the company can comprehend all aspects of cooking, from preparing components to preparing entire meals.
The AI-powered home appliance startup from India, upliance.ai, which was featured on Shark Tank India, just completed a ₹34 crore seed round at a ₹143 crore valuation. Leading the fundraising was Khosla Ventures, which is well-known for funding AI firms such as Rabbit, Sarvam, and OpenAI.
The AI Cooking Assistant from upliance.ai is a jar with an 8-inch smart screen attached. It can cook more than 500 foods, such as steamed rice, chai, chole masala, and paneer stir fry. In reality, we collaborate closely with OpenAI, and the relationship extends beyond the APIs. It’s not as easy as ChatGPT because we’ve also started utilizing our own trained models, according to upliance.ai CEO Mahek Mody, who spoke with AIM exclusively.
He went on, “We want to build Netflix, but for food,” referring to the limitless alternatives for food that Netflix provides. “Just follow the instructions; you don’t need to worry about whether or not you know how to cook something,” he stated.
Upliance.ai’s TechnologyThe business makes use of Up⤴️AI, a unique technology designed to comprehend every aspect of cooking, from preparing ingredients to preparing entire meals.
With its blade, thermal sensor, and heating element, the smart jar can perform over 16 different cooking operations, including blending, sautéing, steaming, heating, and chopping. The gravy’s viscosity and vibrations are monitored by the jar. According to Mody, all of these factors contribute to determining how far along we are in the cooking process and whether it is cooked consistently.
The built-in “ChefGPT” on the screen provides answers to all of your questions on the recipes and offers ingredients for the dish. Additionally, it can make recipe suggestions depending on the components you currently have on hand. It improves your entire cooking experience in addition to giving you detailed directions while you cook.
“We have now prepared 25,000 meals for consumers using the app and the gadget. For example, we have over 420 different recipes that people have made, and we have also cross-promoted food,” Mody added, saying that they began with 50 clients who placed advance orders for the goods.
LLMs in the Kitchen: Why?
“The idea is that another person should be able to cook the same thing and all its variations if one person cooks a dish in one corner of the world,” explained Mody.
He went on to say that to preserve collective wisdom and advance their culinary algorithms, all of the cooking data, user preferences, and feedback are streamed online.
“Typically, your parents teach you how to cook. The main dishes are roti-sabzi and dal-chawal. However, if you wanted to learn how to make risotto from YouTube, it would take a very long time, he noted. Now, you can enter the dish’s name into Upliance’s generative AI screen, and it will produce a recipe for you.
You can still go to the AI generator and type the name of the dish, for instance, if lasooni chicken isn’t pre-set or on the appliance. It’ll produce the recipe for you,” he continued.
Additionally, he stated that before responding, the AI Cooking Assistant will take the recipe type and the item’s temperature into account. “Hey, I want to make this recipe vegan. I might mention that in the middle of cooking. It will proceed and adjust the recipe appropriately,” he clarified.
Upliance.ai may release more goods in the future, but for now, the AI Cooking Assistant is available for ₹23,999 on the company website. We have some appliances in our kitchens, like a coffee maker, mixer, microwave, and induction cooker. LLMs can make it easier for us to operate these appliances by removing the need for us to physically touch buttons to change the settings because the devices are intelligent enough to do so automatically.
