Donovan Waller Joins Ma’aden as CTO to Drive Innovation and Growth
Riyadh, Saudi Arabia – Ma’aden, Saudi Arabia’s leading mining company, has announced the appointment of Donovan Waller as its new Chief Technology Officer (CTO), effective immediately. Bringing nearly three decades of technology leadership in the global mining sector, Waller’s expertise is expected to play a critical role in advancing Ma’aden’s ambitious growth and innovation agenda.
In its official statement, the company emphasized that Waller’s technical and strategic leadership will support Ma’aden’s mission to increase output, optimize performance, and strengthen its position both locally and internationally.

Before joining Ma’aden, Waller spent more than 17 years at Anglo American, where he served as Group Head of Technology Development. During his tenure, he led groundbreaking initiatives, including the FutureSmart Mining program, which leverages advanced technologies and sustainable practices to deliver economic, environmental, and social value.
With close to 30 years of industry experience, Waller is well-known for integrating cutting-edge digital solutions, automation, and responsible mining practices into large-scale operations. His appointment reflects Ma’aden’s commitment to becoming a global leader in innovation-driven mining, aligning with Saudi Arabia’s broader Vision 2030 goals for industrial diversification and sustainability.
