Nvidia CEO rings the alarm on IT jobs, saying AI will eliminate the need for Java or C

Many were astounded by ChatGPT’s capabilities when OpenAI announced it in November 2022. People use the AI chatbot for various tasks, such as asking it to create code and make music or poetry or to debug and compose code. With ChatGPT, generative AI gained unprecedented traction, and soon after, Microsoft and Google also debuted their chatbots, Bing and Bard (now Gemini).

AI has been heralded by many as the future. Notable figures in the IT industry, including Sam Altman, Satya Nadella, Bill Gates, and Sundar Pichai, have already spoken on the possible effects of AI on labor markets, highlighting its importance.

While some IT professionals think AI will result in job losses in the IT industry, others think it will open up additional chances.

CEO of Nvidia Jensen Huang agrees that AI will have an impact on the labor market and argues that anyone can become a programmer with this new technology, so children don’t need to learn how to code.

The Nvidia CEO can be seen speaking at an event in a video that has gone viral. He claims that a decade or so ago, the consensus was that everyone should learn how to code. Now, however, things are entirely different because of artificial intelligence; everyone is a coder. He also said that children don’t need to learn how to program and that it is our responsibility to develop technology that would enable human language to be used in programming. Put another way, computers should be able to understand human speech, negating the necessity for coding languages like C++ or Java.

“Almost everyone who sits on a stage like this over the last ten to fifteen years would tell you that it is vital that your children learn computer science, that everybody should learn how to program,” the speaker declares. The situation is nearly the exact reverse. It is our responsibility to develop computer technology that eliminates the need for programming and uses human language instead. These days, everyone on the planet is a programmer. The wonder of AI is this.”

“You now have a computer that will do what you tell it to do,” he continued. Everyone has to be upskilled, and the process will be enjoyable and unexpected.”

Huang is also supported by John Carmack, the founder of Id Software and Armadillo Aerospace, and the former CTO of Oculus VR says “The value of coding never came from it, so people shouldn’t become unduly tied to it. My primary ability is problem-solving. He quoted Huang’s video in a post, saying, “The discipline and precision required by traditional programming will remain valuable transferable attributes, but they won’t be a barrier to entry.” “I suspect that I will enjoy managing AIs more, even if they wind up being better programmers than I am,” he stated.

The CEO of Nvidia has already discussed the widespread impact of AI on a variety of businesses. Nvidia, one of the biggest chip companies in the world, was instrumental in the creation of ChatGPT, which made use of hundreds of Nvidia GPUs.

Speaking to an assembly at the Computex conference in Taiwan the previous year, Huang had proclaimed the “digital divide” to be over. He emphasized how AI is ushering in a new era of computing, one in which previously unthinkable tasks are made possible. Huang stressed how accessible programming is in the modern world, saying that anyone can learn to program by just using computers.

That was when Huang stated, “There is a very low barrier to programming.” The digital divide has been eliminated. These days, everyone is a coder; all you have to do is communicate with the computer.”

Huang highlighted AI’s quick development and said its popularity stems from its ease of use. He had foreseen the pervasive adoption of AI across all industries, which would bring about a dramatic shift in the state of technology.
