In a rapidly evolving tech world where culture, people and purpose define long-term success, Priyanka Dekate stands out as a leader who brings heart into strategy and resilience into leadership. As the Chief People Officer of VTEST Software Pvt Ltd, in Pune, she has become the driving force behind its people-first philosophy—shaping workplaces where innovation thrives, trust is nurtured, and individuals are empowered to grow. Her story is one of purpose, passion and an unwavering belief that while technology builds products, it is people who build great companies.
Education Builds; Experience Shapes
Her engineering background in Information Technology taught her strong analytical skills and helped her learn how to solve problems at a foundational level—to think logically, adapt quickly, and approach challenges with a structured mindset. Early in her career, working on IT projects exposed her to the dynamics of collaboration, delivery excellence, and client focus, shaping her understanding that business success depends equally on systems and people.
“As I transitioned into Human Resources, this technical perspective helped me bring data-driven thinking and strategic discipline to the people’s function. To strengthen my leadership capabilities further, I pursued the CHRO Certification Program from the Indian Institute of Management (IIM), which deepened my expertise in People & HR Analytics, Organizational Strategy, Leadership Development, Change Management, and Growth and Performance Strategy,” says Priyanka.
This blend of technology, hands-on experience and executive education has prepared her to lead with insight and empathy. It enables her to align people’s strategies with business goals, foster innovation and nurture a culture that supports growth, agility and long-term sustainability.
The Turning Point and The Moment Everything Changed
Priyanka began her career in technology after completing her B.E. in Information Technology. She entered the IT domain through technical roles and project delivery—until an unexpected opportunity opened the door to HR. Supporting recruitment drives, engaging with teams and contributing to organizational culture helped her realize that while technology builds products, people build organizations.
What started as a coincidence soon transformed into a calling. The opportunity to influence human potential resonated with her deeply. She transitioned fully into HR and found immense fulfilment in nurturing talent, shaping people-centric strategies and creating workplaces where individuals can thrive.
Her technical background continued to strengthen her HR leadership—bringing structure, analytical thinking and innovation into the function, and enabling her to bridge logic with empathy.
In retrospect, her journey wasn’t planned—it evolved with purpose. And that organic evolution is what makes it most meaningful.
A Journey Rooted in Purpose, Passion, and People
With over a decade of experience in Human Resources and People Strategy, Priyanka leads diverse HR functions and drives strategic initiatives focused on talent development, organizational culture, and leadership growth. Her journey has been a blend of purpose and passion—from shaping HR frameworks to scaling organizations to building inclusive, performance-driven workplaces that empower people to thrive.
“Throughout my career, I’ve had the privilege of partnering closely with leadership teams, driving transformation through empathy, agility and data-driven decisions. I believe in balancing people-centricity with business outcomes, i.e. creating a culture where innovation, trust and accountability coexist,” says Priyanka.
Priyanka is “Resilient”—a quality she calls her lifelong companion. It has grounded her through challenges, transitions and personal growth, enabling her to stay grounded, adaptive and optimistic while navigating change and inspiring others to do the same.
The Inspirations Behind the Leader’s Journey
“The most influential force in my life has been the belief in continuous learning and self-evolution—a value deeply ingrained in me since childhood. Personally, I draw immense inspiration from my parents, who taught me the importance of self-reliance, humility, perseverance, and integrity—values that have become my compass in every decision I make,” says Priyanka.
Professionally, her journey has been influenced and shaped by the leaders and teams she has collaborated with. Each experience deepened her understanding of human behavior and revealed an important truth: leadership is not defined by authority, but by influence, empathy and purpose.
Yet, her greatest teachers have been her challenges. Every obstacle pushed her beyond comfort zones, refined her leadership approach and reinforced the strength to remain solution-oriented even in uncertain times. For Priyanka, growth is not a final destination—it is an ongoing, evolving journey of courage and reinvention.
Aligning With Our Mission: A People-First Philosophy
Though Priyanka wasn’t the founder of VTEST, she deeply resonates with the original mission—to build a world-class software testing organization driven by excellence, innovation and integrity. The company’s foundation lies in offering specialized, independent and high-quality testing services that help clients deliver reliable and seamless digital experiences.
What captivated Priyanka most was core philosophy: people-first—the belief that the company’s greatest strength lies in its talent. “My mission as a leader has been to translate that philosophy into practice by building a culture that values collaboration, continuous learning, and ownership,” says Priyanka.
Over the years, VTEST’s mission has evolved beyond testing and today, they are shaping a future-ready organization that embraces AI, automation and agile thinking, while continuing to nurture their core values of trust and quality.
“As VTEST continues to grow globally, my focus remains on strengthening the human capital strategy to empower our people to innovate fearlessly, lead with empathy and make a meaningful impact through their work. At the heart of every successful company, it’s the people who truly define the mission and its evolution,” says Priyanka.
A Woman Leader With a Mission
“As a woman leader and Chief People Officer at VTEST Software, my key responsibility lies in building a culture where people and purpose thrive together. I see my role as both strategic and human – driving organizational growth while ensuring that every individual feels valued, included and inspired to contribute their best,” says Priyanka.
“At the leadership level, I am responsible for aligning people strategies with business goals, shaping talent development frameworks, fostering leadership in each core module of HR at all levels and ensuring our culture evolves with agility and empathy. I focus on creating opportunities for growth, encouraging diversity of thought and promoting emotional intelligence as a core strength of leadership,” she added.
Being a recognized woman entrepreneur, she sees it as her responsibility to mentor and uplift other women—helping them break barriers, embrace leadership and believe in their own voice.
Her leadership is not just about driving organizational excellence—it is about empowering an entire ecosystem by driving conversations around inclusive growth, resilience and the power of authentic leadership.
“Our mission remains constant: to deliver quality as a culture, not just a process. As technology evolves, we’re always committed to staying ahead – empowering our clients to launch faster, innovate confidently and deliver exceptional user experiences every single time,” says Priyanka
Career–Life Harmony
“Honestly, maintaining work-life balance isn’t easy, especially when you’re a People Person. Being in HR and leadership means you’re constantly engaged with others’ challenges, emotions and aspirations, which can often blur the lines between work and self,” says Priyanka.
Priyanka believes that balance isn’t about perfect separation, but about purposeful integration. She stays grounded by being present in the moment, whether it’s during a critical business meeting or while spending time with her family.
“My biggest strategies are discipline, self-awareness and boundaries. I plan my days intentionally, delegate effectively and make time for reflection and self-care, even if it’s a short walk, a good book or quiet time to disconnect. These small pauses help me recharge and return with clarity,” she says. “I also believe in the power of support systems, both at work and at home. Having a trusted circle and a collaborative team makes it possible to navigate demanding days without losing focus or energy.”
To her, balance is an evolving practice—a rhythm of giving, pausing, and simply breathing.
Her Message to Aspiring Women Leaders
For Priyanka, the most important quality every woman entrepreneur must possess is ‘self-belief’—the courage to trust one’s voice even when the world hesitates.
Women leaders continue to face unconscious biases, unequal opportunities and the pressure to constantly prove themselves. Balancing professional ambitions with personal responsibilities adds another layer of complexity.
But Priyanka believes the real challenge lies in internal conditioning—the tendency to question one’s own worth. Breaking that cycle requires resilience, community and the courage to redefine leadership with empathy, authenticity and excellence.
Priyanka leaves aspiring women leaders with a powerful message:
Start where you are. Believe in your potential. Be consistent. Leadership is not perfection—it is purpose.
Surround yourself with people who uplift and challenge you. Bring your authentic self forward. Learn continuously. And most importantly, lift others as you rise.
Because true impact isn’t measured by how high you climb—but by how many you empower along the way.
Shaping Tomorrow: Intelligent, Innovative and People-Centric
“As technology continues to redefine how businesses operate, our focus will be on expanding our service portfolio to deliver smarter, faster and more scalable outcomes for our clients,” assures Priyanka.
In the upcoming years, her role will be pivotal—building future-ready teams, nurturing leadership at every level, fostering cross-functional agility and strengthening our learning ecosystem to keep pace with rapid technological evolution.
For Priyanka, the transformation ahead is both technological and human—and her mission is to ensure both evolve together.
“I aim to continue driving a culture of trust, inclusion, and continuous improvement, where every individual feels empowered to innovate and take ownership. My goal is to ensure that as VTEST scales, we don’t just grow in size—we grow in capability, character, and impact,” asserts Priyanka. “The transformation ahead is not just technological—it’s deeply human. And my role is to ensure both evolve hand in hand,” she adds.
