PHILADELPHIA — Global data and AI powerhouse Qlik has announced a strategic collaboration with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to deliver its full suite of AI, data integration, and analytics capabilities on the upcoming AWS European Sovereign Cloud, set to debut in Brandenburg, Germany, by the end of 2025.
As a launch partner, Qlik will play a pivotal role in bringing advanced, compliant, and regionally governed analytics solutions to public and private sector organizations across Europe.
Strengthening Europe’s Digital Sovereignty
The AWS European Sovereign Cloud is designed as a fully independent, EU-operated cloud environment built to meet the region’s strict regulatory, compliance, data residency, and operational autonomy requirements. All infrastructure will remain within the EU, with day-to-day operations handled exclusively by AWS employees residing in Europe.
This sovereign-by-design architecture ensures customers receive the same high performance, availability, and security associated with AWS, while maintaining complete control over data access—AWS will not access customer data without explicit consent.
Qlik Brings Governed AI and Analytics to Europe
With this collaboration, European organizations will gain access to Qlik’s enterprise-grade tools—powered by AI, ML, and real-time analytics—within a secure environment that adheres to EU expectations for data sovereignty.
“Launching our AI, data, and analytics portfolio on the AWS European Sovereign Cloud is a clear step for European organizations that want AI outcomes without giving up control of their data,” said Mike Capone, CEO of Qlik. He emphasized that the partnership gives customers trusted AI capabilities, accelerates innovation, and helps organizations avoid vendor lock-in while meeting stringent EU regulatory standards.
Qlik will manage all daily operations, customer support, and technical services for these sovereign deployments through EU-based employees. The company will also offer its customer-managed encryption key feature, giving organizations even greater flexibility and control over data access and governance.
Expanded Compliance and Regional Commitments
The move builds on Qlik’s recent launch of Qlik France Region on the AWS Europe (Paris) Region, supporting France’s national data residency requirements.
Qlik is also expanding its compliance roadmap to align with key European standards, including:
- BSI C5 (Germany) by early 2026
- NIS2 (EU), HDS (France), and ACN (Italy) controls in 2026
- ISO/IEC 42001 for AI management systems, targeted for Q1 2026
- ISO 9001 in scope for late 2026
These certifications strengthen Qlik’s position as a trusted AI and analytics partner across regulated European industries.
