Snapchat+ subscribers now have access to My AI, an experimental chatbot that uses the latest version of OpenAI’s GPT technology specifically customized for the social network. The social platform’s parent company, Snap, announced the chatbot’s launch on Monday, which will be rolled out this week.
Snap CEO Evan Spiegel told The Verge that the company plans on making this feature accessible to all users in the future. My AI has various capabilities, such as recommending gift ideas, suggesting a recipe, or writing a haiku. Although the feature is designed to avoid biased, incorrect, harmful, or misleading information, Snap warns that mistakes could occur since it is an AI-powered chatbot.
According to a blog post by Snap, My AI is susceptible to being misled into saying almost anything. The company advises users to be cautious of the chatbot’s limitations and apologizes in advance for any issues that may arise. In the same post, Snap warns users not to share any confidential information with My AI and not to depend on it for advice.
OpenAI’s ChatGPT, which was launched in the previous year, created a stir due to its remarkably human-like responses.
However, there have been reports of issues with the technology. Recently, Bing, which is powered by Microsoft’s ChatGPT, gained attention in the news when users shared unusual conversations with the chatbot. It would respond emotionally and provide incorrect information.
