CEO Elon Musk stated on Tuesday that Tesla (TSLA.O) hopes to produce 200,000 Cybertrucks, an electric pickup truck, annually.
Tesla had previously stated that it could produce more than 125,000 Cybertrucks a year, and Musk had added that the number might reach 250,000 by 2025.
On November 30, almost four years after Musk debuted the highly anticipated pickup truck at a Los Angeles event, his head of design will start delivering the car. During the unveiling, he demonstrated several tests to the audience and cracked the vehicle’s “armor glass” window with a metal ball.
Musk emphasized in the “Joe Rogan Experience” podcast, published on Tuesday, how difficult it was to make the Cybertruck.
Regarding the futuristic-looking Cybertruck, Musk stated, “We’re aiming to make about 200,000 a year at point production… maybe a little more, but I just can’t emphasize enough that manufacturing is much much harder than the initial design.”
During an earnings call earlier this month, he had stated, “We dug our own grave with Cybertruck,” and added that the company would have “enormous challenges” in increasing production and turning a profit.
