Bill Gates, the founder of Microsoft, does not believe that software developers’ careers will be affected by the sharp increase in the use of artificial intelligence (AI). In a podcast conversation with Nikhil Kamath, the creator of Zerodha, Bill Gates discussed the transformative potential of artificial intelligence
and its benefits for humankind.
“The amazing part about this technology is that it can be used to develop educational tutors and assist in important areas. Numerous initiatives in the US and India have demonstrated excellent outcomes. Bill Gates stated, “If we knew that it only increased job productivity, the potential is amazing.”
Concerns over the future of software engineers’ roles were notably brought up by Bill Gates, who referred to them as “alarmist” given the continued significance of the work they do. The creator of Microsoft continued, “We still need those software engineers and we will continue to need them.”
Bill Gates answered whether AI can replace all occupations abstractly, describing how amazing the technology will be for the elderly and disabled. He added that AI technology might change and destroy “the very organizing principles of society and what we value.”
However, he provided a timeframe and stated that he does not anticipate it occurring for the next 20 years. “However, I’m not positive about that,” grinned Bill Gates
Socialism versus CapitalismWhen Nikhil Kamath questioned Bill Gates about his choice in the capitalism vs. socialism argument, the podcast took an interesting turn. The CEO of Microsoft made his decision to support capitalism quickly and explained why.
“Capitalism gives you the freedom to start a new business or try out a new product, and that is an idea of freedom as it is not based on your background or class, and there is a discovery power,” he said.
