The UK Plans to Invest in the Defense, Aerospace, & Medical Sectors in UP: The British Ministry of State at GIS

On Sunday Feb 12, the British Minister of State for Defence Procurement said that the UK would invest in Uttar Pradesh’s defense, aerospace, and medical industries.

Alex Chalk said during a session on the United Kingdom partner country and defense conducted in Dadhichi Hall as part of the ongoing Global Investor Summit-2023: “It gives me great satisfaction to take part in GIS-23. It is a significant accomplishment to stand on this vast tract of land in Uttar Pradesh and invite investors from around the globe. The fact that this program is taking place in the “Rice Basket” state is also a significant accomplishment.”

Yogi Adityanath, the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, addressed the audience and noted that the UK, as a partner nation, has contributed to GIS not only in the fields of defense and aerospace but also in the field of food processing. He also promised investors full support from the state government as they move forward with their projects.

Adityanath assured the British delegation that any investment made in the state would be safe and that the state government would offer all assistance necessary to make the venture profitable for the investor.

Six UK businesses presented investment plans for the state at the meeting.

Chalk stated a desire to continue working with the government, particularly in defense.

“To meet India’s defense demands, Uttar Pradesh is actively participating in the “Make in India” program, and our contribution will take the form of investments and the production of strategic and tactical weapons. Uttar Pradesh would be able to meet India’s defense needs because of this,”said Chalk.

“Additionally, Uttar Pradesh will become a recognized exporting nation. The world looks forward to realizing the vision of Uttar Pradesh’s golden future with hope and expectation since a capable Uttar Pradesh is crucial not only for India and the Asia-Pacific region but for the entire world,” he added.

Adityanath thanked the UK government and noted that the UK’s involvement and support as a partner nation in elevating GIS-23 to a new level of accomplishment were outstanding.

Among the 25 industries chosen to help the state thrive, “Defence and aerospace are our top priorities. Together with the Indian government, we are moving this project toward speedy development. He said that the state government has also released its defense and aerospace policy, seeking to expand the opportunities so that it may become a hub in this industry.

“I can confidently state that there is a long history between India and the UK, and Prime Minister Modi has been instrumental in advancing these ties. Due to this, not only are the UK-affiliated investors becoming partners in GIS-23 today, but the UK’s Defense Procurement Minister has also arrived with a sizable delegation to advance those opportunities in the state, “added Adityanath.
