Most of our time is spent looking at screens & devices. Virtual reality & augmented reality are the two technologies that are changing the way we use screens, creating new and exciting experiences both in different ways.  

It is evident from the fact that the market for both of these technologies is expected to grow up to 250 billion dollars by 2022. 

AR & VR are two different things with each having its own strength and weakness. 

Virtual Reality (VR):

It is the use of Computer technology to create a simulated environment of which we become a part of and can leave the experience. Sensorama was a machine that is one of the earliest known examples of immersive multisensory technology which could be considered as some sort of virtual reality thing. 

Edward Sutherland, who is widely regarded as the father of Computer graphics created the first virtual reality headset.

Augmented reality (AR):

It is an enhanced version of the real physical world that is achieved through the use of digital visual elements, sound, or other sensory stimuli delivered via technology. It is a growing trend among companies involved in mobile computing and business applications in particular. Augmented reality (AR) involves overlaying visual, auditory, or other sensory information onto the world in order to enhance one’s experience.

Here are a few areas where AR & VR can be super helpful: 

Policing: AR systems can provide relevant details on the environment which could be very useful for officers to deal with dangerous situations.
