Starting on Monday, the three-day delegates’ meet of the Supreme Audit Institutions-20 (SAI20) Engagement Group will primarily focus on the responsible implementation of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and its impact on the ‘Blue Economy’. Brainstorming sessions will be held to discuss these crucial issues.
Girish Chandra Murmu, the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) of India, serves as the Chair of the SAI20 Engagement Group during India’s G-20 Presidency.
The CAG explained that the ‘Blue Economy’ refers to the sustainable use of ocean resources to drive economic growth, create better livelihoods, and generate employment while protecting the health of our ecosystem. Responsible AI involves establishing a governance framework to regulate how data can be collected and utilized, evaluating AI models, and effectively deploying and monitoring them. This framework can also define who is accountable for any negative consequences of AI, according to the CAG’s statement.
The event will be attended by representatives from G-20 member countries, guest nations, and other international organizations. The following SAIs will be participating in-person: Australia, Brazil, Egypt, Indonesia, Oman, South Korea, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and the United Arab Emirates.
Earlier, the CAG had suggested cooperation in the SAI20 Engagement Group to address ‘Blue Economy’ and ‘Responsible AI’. During the Guwahati meeting, he plans to introduce and present the conceptual themes for these two issues. The participants will have the opportunity to discuss and exchange their experiences on these topics.
