UP Board Modernized Curriculum for Schools, Students to Learn AI, Cryptocurrency, IoT & Drone Tech

The Uttar Pradesh board’s updated curriculum for classes 9 through 12 will cover subjects like e-governance, artificial intelligence, cryptocurrency, and drone technology. This curriculum will be used starting in the current academic year (2023–24). For classes 11 and 12, the board experts have replaced the study of C++ and HTML programming with the study of other coding languages like Python and Java.

Under the National Education Policy 2020, the Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad changed the 9th to 12th-grade curriculum, including topics like cryptocurrencies, drone technology, and IT breakthroughs. The board specialists have also used Python and Java instead of conventional programming languages. Students in class 10 will learn how to avoid cyber fraud and hacking.

Students in Uttar Pradesh’s government schools will now read about cryptocurrency, drone technology, and modern information technology (IT) developments.

The UP Board, technically known as the Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad with its headquarters in Prayagraj, has updated the curriculum for classes 9 through 12 following the National Education Policy (NEP)-2020 and posted it online, according to board secretary Dibyakant Shukla.

Officials from the UP Board confirmed the move. They noted that its subject specialists, not the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT), determine the computer learning curriculum taught in over 28,000 schools under the board’s authority.

For students in classes 11 and 12, the board experts have substituted the customary C++ and HTML programming lessons with lessons in Python and Java. The Internet of Things (IoT), artificial intelligence, blockchain technology, augmented and virtual reality, 3D printing, and cloud computing have all been presented to class 11 pupils. In contrast, the ideas of robotics and drone technology have been added to the syllabus for Class 12.

The chapters on the history, generations, and types of computers have also been removed from the course outline.

Students in class 10 will learn the fundamentals of avoiding hacking, phishing, and online fraud. Students will also study e-governance. Previously taught in class 10, programming techniques, computer communication, and networking will now be covered in class 9.

The computer syllabus has seen considerable revisions from the board. Modern themes will now be covered in class. According to Biswanath Mishra, a computer teacher at Prayagraj’s Shiv Charan Das Kanhaiya Lal Inter College, this will better prepare them for contemporary life.
