Honeysuckle Magazine: Driving an Aesthetic Impact Worldwide

We live in a society where many important subjects are taboo. When it comes to print media, companies want to stay on the safer side, and they rarely express their honest opinions.

Honeysuckle Magazine is a print and web publication that talks about gender and sexuality, cannabis, hemp, racial politics, sustainability, pop culture, and many more. Its content reflects who we are. As educated, worldly women, the Honeysuckle team produces a journal that critiques society while also giving a space for real people to discover new things.

Vision and Mission

A common goal drives honeysuckle Magazine to better itself and its communities through information.  It developed as a cultural exploration outlet in the heart of Detroit during one of the city’s most difficult economic periods. Even in the face of an international pandemic, Honeysuckle has always been a platform that encourages hope.

Experiences and Achievements

A few past experiences that have aided the magazine include learning to fall forward. One of them is the compassionate release of a Corona State Prison inmate DaReta Gail Steverson, who was imprisoned for 22 years, has leukemia and tested positive for COVID. The release was facilitated by a recent piece the magazine published about her. About 8000 signatures were able to be collected as a result of the article’s publication in Honeysuckle Magazine.

Honeysuckle Magazine has formed successful collaborations with a number of top-tier universities across the country, including Columbia University and New York University. It has pioneered progressive reporting, receiving the highest accolades from the New York State government, including a Citation Award from the New York State Assembly and an award from State Senator Brian Benjamin.

The Red Backpack Foundation has awarded  them a GlobalGiving grant, which is given to women-led businesses and charities that have proved their ability to thrive in the face of COVID-19 challenges and changing economic conditions.

Growth and Expansion

Honeysuckle has expanded into areas of content and coverage that touch on all of the important issues of our time as it has grown, particularly since relocating its headquarters to New York. The magazine covers all such topics to the best of its abilities, reporting from all around the world to deliver its audience reasoned, insightful, and cutting-edge perspectives.

Advice for Emerging Women Leaders

The company believes that women are less inclined to desire to control the issue and are more willing to listen to and be open to other people’s perspectives, including their own.

The company’s team doesn’t like to separate leaders by gender. Very few industries and bosses can provide freedom at a level that they have created for themselves.

Expectations for the Future

Honeysuckle is growing, and figuring out where it fits into the digital media landscape. It will keep tackling issues that matter to them, such as the environment and social justice, racial politics, and jail reform.
