On Monday, US Pacific Air Forces Commander General Kenneth S Wilsbach stated that the US has provided India with information regarding the Chinese spy balloon that entered US airspace and was ultimately shot down. This occurred as the two nations began a large air combat and mobility exercise, with China’s hostile actions being a top priority. General Wilsbach noted that over the past two decades, the People’s Liberation Army-Air Force and PLA-Navy have made notable progress in upgrading their military capabilities.
According to a report by The Post, which cited interviews with multiple anonymous defence and intelligence officials, surveillance airships, some of which are operated by the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) Air Force, have been observed on five continents. The report claimed that these balloons, which are part of a larger fleet developed by the People’s Republic of China (PRC) for surveillance operations, have violated the sovereignty of various countries, including India. A senior defence official confirmed the violation and stated that the balloons were part of a larger Chinese effort to conduct surveillance operations.
