CES 2024 included new announcements from firms such as Google, Amazon, Honda, and others. The CES 2024 show floor opened its doors.
Google takes the spotlight
Google dominated the scene with one of the largest booths, announcing changes consistent with the company’s continuous theme of “Better Together.” The tech titan announced partnerships with Samsung, including the integration of its Nearby Share tool into Quick Share.
This move is intended to simplify inter-device communication for Android users, providing a unified alternative to Apple’s AirDrop. Google also added the ability to Chromecast TikTok movies and increased app compatibility with select Ford, Nissan, and Lincoln automobiles, further strengthening the integration of technology into daily life.
Hyundai’s Air Taxi takes off
Hyundai unveiled an improved version of its S-A2 Air Taxi, an electric vertical takeoff and landing vehicle designed for short-distance rides in cities. Hyundai envisions the S-A2 as a convenient and efficient transportation alternative, with a cruise speed of 120mph and a range of 25 to 40 miles.
Honda’s electric dream
Honda unveiled two futuristic electric vehicle (EV) concepts: the Saloon, a sleek sedan, and the Space Hub, a boxier minivan with novel seating combinations. While the Saloon will be available in North American markets in 2026, the Space Hub’s future remains unknown.
Innovations in Smart Homes
Aside from Google, Amazon made advances in the smart home arena by adopting the Matter standard for casting. The addition of new face-scanning and palm-reading door locks, Nanoleaf’s smart outdoor lighting, and Weber’s Searwood smart grill to the smart home landscape has enriched the smart home landscape.
Cases powered by AI
The Clicks iPhone keyboard case and the Rabbit R1, an adorable AI-powered assistant with a 2.88-inch display, analog scroll wheel, and a 360-degree camera, were notable mobile highlights. Teenage Engineering co-designed the Rabbit R1, which promises an interactive experience similar to a walkie-talkie.
The emphasis is on accessibility
The OrCam Hear device, which aids persons with hearing loss, the GyroGlove, which stabilizes hand tremors, and the Mouthpad, which allows control with the tongue, were all on display at CES 2024. An improved Audio Radar system addressed the demands of gamers with hearing impairments, demonstrating a favorable trend at CES toward substantial developments in assistive technology that deviated from the typical goals that frequently dominate the sector.
