The Enigma of Quantum computing

Quantum computing is the study of how to use phenomena in quantum physics to create
new ways of computing. Quantum computing is made up of qubits. Unlike a normal
computer bit, which can be 0 or 1, a qubit can be either of those or a superposition of both 0
and 1.
The quantum in " quantum computing" refers to the quantum mechanics that the system uses
to calculate outputs. A quantum is the smallest possible discrete unit of any

physical property in physics. It usually refers to properties of atomic or subatomic particles, such as
electrons, neutrinos, and photons.
It harnesses the unique behavior of quantum physics—such as superposition, entanglement,
and quantum interference—and applies it to computing. This introduces new concepts to
traditional programming methods.
Advantages of Quantum Computing:
They' re fast: Computers have the potential to compute at a larger scale.
They can solve complex problems: Due to concepts like entanglement & superposition,
quantum computing makes it possible to perform even the most complex of tasks which
seemed impossible with supercomputers years ago.
They can run complex situations: Speed + Complexity! A Quantum computer can simulate
many intricate systems.
Disadvantages of Quantum Computing:
They are difficult to build: They require unique components, massive cooling systems, and
expensive technology.
They' re prone to errors: The errors multiply with levels of complexity.
They' re only suitable for specific tasks: Due to the nature of how they work, they’re not
expected to offer advantages in all areas of computing.

Uses of Quantum Computing
Molecular Modelling: Quantum Computing can be used to simulate quantum physics which
could provide new insights on things like how batteries operate or how proteins interact,
which could help to revolutionize energy storage and medicine.
Database Searching: Quantum Computers can store and search through massive amounts
of data in a much quicker time than traditional computers.
Cryptography:  A fully functioning quantum computer could potentially be used to break
most existing forms of encryption, which would be a huge concern for cyber security.
Weather Forecasting: In the field of meteorology, where vast amounts of data and many
different variables are needed to create forecasts, Quantum computing could provide a
boost in the level of complexity with which we predict the weather.
