Meta has introduced a new suite of AI-powered creative tools on Facebook, designed to make self-expression more dynamic and visually engaging. Powered by Meta AI, these features allow users to animate profile pictures, restyle images in Stories and Memories, and enhance text posts with animated backgrounds.
Animate Your Profile Picture in Seconds
Facebook users can now transform static profile photos into animated visuals with just a few taps. Using preset animation options such as natural motion, party hat, confetti, wave, and heart effects, users can instantly add personality and energy to their profiles.
Meta plans to expand the animation library throughout the year, introducing seasonal and event-based effects to help users celebrate special moments.
For optimal results, Meta recommends using a clear photo featuring a single person facing the camera without additional objects. Users can animate images directly from their camera roll or from previously uploaded Facebook photos. Once created, animated profile pictures can be shared to the Feed and displayed on the user’s profile.
AI-Powered Image Restyling for Stories and Memories
The new Restyle feature enables users to creatively transform photos shared in Stories or resurfaced through Facebook Memories. With the help of Meta AI, images can be reimagined using preset styles or customized text prompts.
Available options include:
- Styles: Anime, illustrated, and more
- Moods: Glowy and other visual tones
- Lighting Effects: Ethereal enhancements
- Color Themes: Cool, pink, and other palettes
- Backdrops: Beach, cityscape, and additional environments
Meta will also proactively recommend Memories that can be enhanced using Restyle, encouraging users to revisit and refresh past moments with a creative twist.
Animated Backgrounds for Text Posts
Text posts are also receiving a visual upgrade. Facebook is gradually rolling out the option to add animated and static backgrounds to Feed text posts, helping users match their words with eye-catching visuals.
By tapping the rainbow “A” icon while creating a text post, users can choose from multiple backdrop options — including effects like falling leaves and ocean waves. Seasonal themes will also be introduced to keep content timely and festive.
With these AI-driven enhancements, Meta is positioning Facebook as a more immersive and expressive platform. The updates simplify content creation while enabling users to produce visually engaging, share-worthy posts that strengthen social connections.
