The Payments Council of India (PCI), the leading industry body representing the country’s digital payments ecosystem, has announced the re-election of Vishwas Patel, Joint Managing Director of Infibeam Avenues Limited (CCAvenue), as its Chairperson for the 2025–27 term. The decision was made unanimously by PCI’s Executive Council, reflecting Patel’s continued leadership and contributions to India’s rapidly evolving payments landscape.
Alongside Patel’s re-election, the council also appointed M. N. Srinivasu, Co-founder and Director of BillDesk, and Nalin Bansal, Chief of Corporate Fintech Relationships & Key Initiatives at NPCI, as Co-Chairpersons. Together, the leadership team is expected to drive PCI’s mission of strengthening India’s position as a global leader in digital payments.
Commenting on his re-election, Patel emphasized the sector’s transformative journey: “The digital payments industry in India is at a critical juncture with rapid adoption, regulatory evolution, and the push towards global leadership. PCI remains committed to fostering innovation, ensuring consumer trust, and working closely with regulators to build a sustainable payments ecosystem.”
Since its inception, PCI has been at the forefront of representing diverse stakeholders in the payments industry—including banks, card networks, wallets, payment gateways, UPI players, and fintech innovators. The council has played a pivotal role in shaping policies, advancing industry standards, and supporting India’s ambition of becoming a digital-first economy.
Industry experts believe that under Patel’s continued leadership, PCI will further strengthen collaboration between regulators, industry players, and consumers—ensuring that India not only accelerates its digital payments adoption but also sets global benchmarks in innovation and trust.
