Pushing the limits of AI design and evolution to solve corporate efficiencies and societal concerns will be the main emphasis of the new center.
In Paris, TCS is setting up a Global AI Center of Excellence.
During the Choose France Summit, which was hosted by French President Emmanuel Macron, Tata Consultancy Services announced on May 13 that a Global Artificial Intelligence (AI) Center of Excellence would be established in Paris. 300 CEOs from around the world, including Tata Sons Chairman N. Chandrasekaran, attended the meeting. The new AI center will be housed in the soon-to-be TCS PacePort in Paris’ La Défense neighborhood. When it opens in June 2024, it will mark the seventh location of its kind in TCS’ worldwide Pace network, joining Amsterdam, London, New York, Pittsburgh, Toronto, and Tokyo as the previous six.
The center’s initial focus will be on developing empathy in robots, using AI in the arts and culture, and brain-computer interaction. Paris’s preeminent status as a global center of the arts, culture, and design will give this endeavor even more momentum.
“The TCS AI Center of Excellence in Paris will leverage TCS’ global ecosystem of startups, academia, and research organizations to bring the best of global capabilities to French companies,”TCS stated in a statement. In order to develop cutting-edge technology in the field of human-centric AI, the new center will integrate into France’s expanding AI ecosystem and take advantage of its rich pool of talented engineers and designers. Its main goal will be to push the limits of AI design and development in order to meet societal priorities and corporate efficiencies. As part of the France 2030 strategy, the impact areas will encompass some of the top priorities outlined in France’s National Strategy for AI.
“The Paris region is fast developing into one of the global epicenters for Artificial Intelligence,” stated Valerie Pecresse, President of the Regional Council of the Ile-de-France region. “We are thrilled to see this new investment from TCS, which will strengthen the AI ecosystem we are trying to build and give our professionals and students additional options. It gives me great pleasure to open this center in June.”
“The need of the hour is to boost AI skills present in the country, accelerate the adoption of AI in the French economy, and develop global capabilities here that will benefit the rest of the world,” stated Dr. Harrick Vin, Chief Technology Officer of TCS. “Many of these topics will be the focus of our new AI center in Paris, including talent development and utilizing France’s renowned design culture, which is evident in its luxury market, fashion industry, and museums. As we operationalize our center in the upcoming weeks, we aim to strengthen our collaborations with national research organizations, universities, and companies,” he added.
“We take great pride in the way our company has expanded in France and in the kind of sophisticated, high-quality digital services we offer to our customers. Our recent investments in the TCS AI Center of Excellence and the TCS PacePort in Paris are proof of our continuous dedication to developing our knowledge of the newest technologies and applying them to the benefit of our domestic and international clientele. Initially, the new center will concentrate on enhancing human-centered AI capabilities for the consumer, manufacturing, and banking & financial services industries. To assist the National AI Mission, we will bring on new hires and collaborate with academic institutions to provide projects and internships,” stated Rammohan Gourneni, Country Head of TCS France.
