New agentic AI platform aims to transform anti-money laundering investigations while keeping human analysts in control
In a move that signals the growing role of artificial intelligence in banking compliance, Genpact has introduced its Banking Analyst Suite, an enterprise-grade platform powered by agentic AI to streamline regulated banking operations. The first solution within the suite, Transaction Monitoring Analyst, is designed to accelerate anti-money laundering (AML) alert investigations without removing human oversight from the decision-making process.
The launch comes as financial institutions worldwide face mounting pressure to strengthen financial crime detection while managing rising compliance costs and increasingly complex regulatory requirements.
AI Takes on Routine AML Investigations
Genpact’s Transaction Monitoring Analyst is built to automate the most time-consuming parts of AML investigations. Instead of simply prioritizing alerts, the platform performs an entire first-level investigation before presenting its findings to human analysts.
The system deploys multiple AI agents, each responsible for a specific stage of the investigation. These agents analyze customer behavior, examine transaction histories, validate customer profiles, review historical alerts, and recommend the most appropriate next step.
Importantly, the platform is designed to assist; not replace; compliance professionals. Human analysts continue to make the final regulatory decisions, ensuring that no regulated action is taken without human approval.
Faster Investigations, Lower Costs
According to Genpact, the new platform can reduce handling time for eligible AML investigations by up to 80% while lowering the total cost of ownership by up to 40%.
Beyond speed, the company says the solution improves investigation consistency by documenting the reasoning behind every recommendation. Each AI-generated conclusion is supported by a detailed audit trail, allowing analysts to review the evidence before making a final determination.
This approach addresses one of the biggest concerns surrounding AI adoption in regulated industries; maintaining transparency and accountability throughout compliance workflows.
Built on Real Financial Crime Expertise
Genpact says the platform reflects years of operational experience managing financial crime programs for major financial institutions.
The company processes millions of AML alerts annually, and that practical expertise has been incorporated into the AI agents powering the new solution.
“What sets Genpact Transaction Monitoring Analyst apart is the operating expertise behind the AI,” said Satish Acharya, Service Line Leader, Financial Crime and Risk Management at Genpact.
“We have run financial crime programmes for some of the world’s largest financial institutions, and we have built that knowledge into how these AI agents investigate. This solution helps analysts shift time from repetitive alert work to the higher-risk cases where human judgment matters most,” he added.
Expanding Beyond AML
While transaction monitoring is the first capability introduced under the Banking Analyst Suite, Genpact has broader ambitions for the platform.
The company plans to extend the suite into several other regulated banking functions, including:
- Customer due diligence
- Sanctions screening
- Fraud investigations
- Customer service operations
- Risk management workflows
The suite has also been developed with enterprise governance requirements in mind, supporting data isolation, information security, auditability, and seamless integration into existing banking systems.
For customers already using Genpact’s riskCanvas financial crime platform, the Banking Analyst Suite will operate natively alongside the existing solution.
Early Enterprise Adoption
Australia and New Zealand-based financial services company AMP Limited is among the first organizations to deploy Genpact’s Transaction Monitoring Analyst, marking an early real-world implementation of the platform.
The deployment reflects increasing industry interest in agentic AI solutions that can automate repetitive compliance tasks while preserving regulatory controls and human accountability.
A New Phase for AI in Banking Compliance
As financial institutions continue balancing stricter compliance obligations with operational efficiency, Genpact’s Banking Analyst Suite represents a shift toward AI systems capable of executing structured investigative workflows rather than simply assisting with data analysis.
By combining autonomous AI agents with mandatory human review, the company is positioning the platform as a tool that enhances analyst productivity instead of replacing professional judgment; a model that could shape the next generation of AI adoption across regulated financial services.
