SymbyAI, an AI-powered SaaS platform simplifying scientific research, raised $2.1M in seed funding. It streamlines research with AI-driven tools for efficiency.

SymbyAI, an innovative SaaS platform leveraging AI to simplify scientific research, has successfully raised $2.1 million in seed funding. The investment round saw participation from Drive Capital and CharacterVC, among other notable investors.

Founded in 2024 by Ashia Livaudais and Michael House, SymbyAI provides a comprehensive workspace for researchers, integrating access to papers, code, data, and experiences in a single platform. The tool enhances research efficiency by tracking progress and offering an AI-powered feature to assist with peer review and replication processes.

“It’s also important to note that SymbyAI is built on a proprietary AI solution, so users don’t have to worry about accidentally sending confidential information to OpenAI, Anthropic, or any other company,” said Livaudais in an interview with TechCrunch. She emphasized that researchers maintain full ownership of their intellectual property, which is not used to train SymbyAI’s underlying models.

Livaudais was inspired to launch SymbyAI after facing the inefficiencies of traditional scientific research processes. “The foundations of Symby were formed while creating a solution to a problem that I was facing every day, and then realizing that my colleagues in the research community were looking for solutions to the same problems,” she explained. “By the time we realized that we could successfully and repeatedly shorten critical research processes from months to hours, demand for a productized version started to emerge from almost every discovery conversation I had.”

Currently, SymbyAI collaborates with academic publishers, research organizations, and universities to modernize the research landscape. The company’s journey with investors began through the gBeta program, part of gener8tor. Livaudais credited gBeta for connecting her with early backers, including Antler, which had previously invested in SymbyAI’s pre-seed round.

With the newly secured funding, SymbyAI plans to expand its platform capabilities and strengthen initial partnerships, driving its mission to make scientific research more efficient and accessible.
