Neha Barjatya steps down as Google India’s Marketing Director after 14 years, leaving a legacy of innovation, inclusion, and landmark campaigns.

New Delhi, August 2025 — After nearly 14 remarkable years at Google India, Neha Barjatya has stepped down from her role as Marketing Director, marking the end of an era and the beginning of a new chapter in her career.

Barjatya, who joined Google India in 2011 as Head of Business Marketing and Digitizing India Initiatives, was later appointed Marketing Director in March 2020. She spearheaded campaigns for consumer apps such as Search, Maps, and Gemini, as well as platform and device offerings including Pixel, Android, and the Play Store.

Reflecting on her tenure, Barjatya took to LinkedIn, saying, “After nearly 14 incredible years, I am moving on from Google. It’s hard to put into words what this journey has meant to me.”

A Legacy of Impact: Campaigns, Innovation & Inclusion

Barjatya’s tenure is distinguished by several high-impact initiatives:

  • Great Online Shopping Festival – She was pivotal in launching this major e-commerce campaign, driving consumer engagement across the country.
  • Internet Saathi Programme – One of the world’s largest digital literacy initiatives, this collaboration with Tata Trusts reached over 290,000 villages and empowered more than 30 million rural women.
  • Pixel Manufacturing in India – Under her leadership, Google began manufacturing Pixel smartphones in India—a notable step in local production.
  • Launch of Gemini (AI Model) – She played a key role in introducing Google’s AI model Gemini to the Indian market.
  • Creative Campaigns – From reviving the iconic India campaign with Pixel to gamifying Search with Google Googlies, Barjatya left her creative mark.

A Gratitude-Filled Farewell

In her farewell, Neha expressed deep gratitude to her colleagues and mentors—highlighting leaders such as Sapna Chadha, Sandeep Menon, Rajan Anandan, Sanjay Gupta, and Simon Kahn for their guidance and support. She said Google taught her to “push past hurdles, stay grounded in purpose, and never lose sight of what’s possible.”

Having spent over a decade shaping Google’s marketing direction in India, Neha Barjatya leaves behind a legacy defined by innovation, inclusion, and impact. Her 14-year journey included launching landmark campaigns, scaling digital literacy for millions of women, driving smartphone manufacturing in India, and introducing next-gen AI models to the market. While her next career move is yet to be revealed, her exit signals a major transition in Google India’s leadership and leaves the industry watching closely for her next step.
