New Delhi, October 16, 2026: Ankit Jain, former Managing Director of Dyson India, has launched Foundry, a consumer technology startup focused on developing premium home appliances powered by proprietary, patent-pending technology. The company has secured ₹12 crore in pre-seed equity funding to accelerate technology development, strengthen product engineering, and prepare for its first product launch, planned for the second half of 2027.

The funding round was led by BEENEXT and Kettleborough VC, with additional participation from Rishubh Satiya of Plix, Anindita Sampath of Yogabar, and Anita Pramoda of Owned Outcomes. The investment will support Foundry’s ambition to create a new generation of home appliances by bringing together original technology, industrial design, engineering, and material innovation.

Foundry Takes a Technology-First Approach to Home Appliances

Foundry aims to move beyond conventional appliance development, where products are often designed as standalone machines with specific functions. Instead, the company intends to rethink how appliances are engineered, how they can work together, and how intelligent technology can improve their usefulness over time.

The startup is building its products around proprietary technology rather than relying solely on incremental changes to existing appliance designs. By combining engineering expertise with considered product design and material selection, Foundry aims to develop appliances that deliver a differentiated experience for consumers.

Its initial product portfolio will focus on kitchen appliances, a category where evolving lifestyles and changing household expectations are creating opportunities for new product experiences. Over time, the company plans to expand into other home appliance categories.

Although Foundry has not yet disclosed the specific products it intends to introduce, its technology-led approach signals a focus on developing products from the ground up rather than simply entering the market with another consumer appliance brand.

₹12 Crore Funding to Support Product Development and Engineering

The ₹12 crore pre-seed investment will primarily be directed towards developing Foundry’s proprietary technology and advancing the engineering required to bring its first products to market.

Building consumer hardware involves several stages, including technology development, prototyping, engineering validation, material selection, and product refinement. The new capital will provide Foundry with resources to advance these activities ahead of its planned launch in the second half of 2027.

The participation of established venture investors and consumer-business entrepreneurs also highlights the growing interest in technology-driven consumer brands. Foundry’s focus on proprietary intellectual property distinguishes its approach from businesses that concentrate primarily on distribution, marketing, or adapting existing product designs.

Commenting on the company’s vision, Founder and CEO Ankit Jain emphasised the importance of rethinking appliance engineering and functionality instead of focusing exclusively on improving individual machines. His broader ambition is to create a fundamentally different experience with everyday appliances through technology developed from the ground up.

Ankit Jain Brings Two Decades of Consumer Business Experience

Jain brings more than two decades of experience across global consumer businesses, with a professional background spanning technology-led products, brand building, and market expansion.

During his nine-year tenure at Dyson, he held leadership positions across India, Hong Kong, the Middle East, and Africa. As Managing Director of Dyson India, he played a role in building and scaling the company’s premium business in the country. His experience across multiple markets has given him exposure to consumer expectations, business expansion, and the challenges of positioning premium products in competitive markets.

Before joining Dyson, Jain held leadership roles at Star TV, Walmart, and Nestlé. This experience across media, retail, consumer goods, and technology provides a broad foundation for his new entrepreneurial venture.

With Foundry, Jain is moving from leading an established global consumer technology business to building a new company centred on proprietary technology and product innovation.

Premium Home Appliances Present a New Opportunity

Foundry’s launch comes amid changing consumer expectations in India’s home appliance sector. Buyers increasingly look beyond basic functionality, placing greater emphasis on product design, convenience, performance, and the overall experience of using household technology.

The premium appliance segment offers opportunities for companies capable of combining differentiated engineering with strong consumer understanding. However, developing proprietary hardware also presents challenges, including product testing, manufacturing, quality control, and the need to establish consumer trust.

Foundry’s initial focus on kitchen appliances will provide its entry point into the market, while its longer-term expansion plans indicate an ambition to establish a broader presence across the home.

As the company moves towards its 2027 launch, its ability to translate patent-pending technology into reliable, commercially competitive products will be central to its growth.

Looking Ahead

With ₹12 crore in pre-seed funding and an experienced consumer-business leader at the helm, Foundry is preparing to establish its position in India’s premium home appliances market. Its immediate priorities are technology development and product engineering, followed by the planned introduction of its first kitchen appliance range in the second half of 2027.

The company’s progress will be closely tied to its ability to turn proprietary engineering into meaningful everyday benefits for consumers. If successful, Foundry could contribute to the growing movement of Indian startups seeking to build differentiated consumer hardware through in-house technology and original product development.
