The appointment of the seasoned fintech investor, effective January 1, 2027, will bring more than three decades of entrepreneurial and financial services experience to Apollo’s board.
NEW YORK, October 20, 2026 — Apollo Global Management, Inc. (NYSE: APO), one of the world’s leading alternative asset managers, has appointed Meyer “Micky” Malka, founder and managing partner of Ribbit Capital, to its Board of Directors. The appointment will take effect on January 1, 2027, adding an experienced fintech entrepreneur and global investor to the company’s leadership as it continues to expand its investment platform.
Following Malka’s appointment, Apollo’s board will comprise 14 directors, while maintaining its existing structure of two-thirds independent directors. His addition is expected to bring valuable insights into the evolving relationship between technology, financial services, and investment management.
Malka has spent more than 30 years building, backing, and developing businesses across the financial services and technology sectors. His experience spans the United States, Europe, Asia, and Latin America, giving him a broad international perspective on financial innovation, digital business models, and emerging investment opportunities.
As the founder and managing partner of Ribbit Capital, Malka focuses on investing in innovative technology companies. His work at the investment firm has positioned him at the intersection of financial services and technological transformation, where digital platforms and new business models continue to reshape how consumers and businesses access financial products.
He also serves on the board of Robinhood Markets, Inc., along with several privately held companies, further strengthening his exposure to financial technology, entrepreneurship, and corporate governance.
A Proven Entrepreneur at the Intersection of Finance and Technology
Malka’s career reflects a consistent focus on identifying opportunities to transform traditional financial services through technology and innovative business models.
Earlier in his career, he co-founded Heptagon Group, a securities and investment broker-dealer serving the Venezuelan and US markets. He subsequently developed Patagon.com, which became Latin America’s first comprehensive internet-based financial services portal and dealer. The business attracted significant attention in the region’s emerging digital finance market and was acquired by Banco Santander in 2000.
Malka later co-founded Banco Lemon, a Brazilian retail bank established to serve underbanked consumers. The institution grew into one of Brazil’s largest private microfinance institutions before being acquired by Banco do Brasil in 2009. The venture demonstrated his continued interest in expanding financial access through business models designed to reach customers underserved by traditional banking institutions.
His entrepreneurial journey also included the co-founding of Bling Nation, a mobile payments company that evolved into Lemon Inc., a mobile wallet business acquired in 2013. These ventures highlight his longstanding involvement in the development of digital payments, alternative financial services, and technology-driven consumer finance.
Malka holds a degree in economics from Universidad Católica Andrés Bello en Caracas, Venezuela.
Apollo Leadership Welcomes Strategic Expertise
Apollo’s leadership has expressed confidence that Malka’s entrepreneurial background and international investment experience will contribute to the company’s strategic direction.
Marc Rowan, Apollo’s Board Chair and Chief Executive Officer, highlighted the relevance of Malka’s experience in building businesses across technology and financial services.
“Micky has spent his career building companies at the intersection of technology and financial services, and his background will be a real asset as we continue to drive growth across our platform,” Rowan said.
Gary Cohn, Apollo’s Lead Independent Director, also welcomed the appointment, emphasizing the value of Malka’s entrepreneurial track record and global perspective.
“Micky’s entrepreneurial track record brings additional global perspective to the Board. I look forward to working with him as we continue to deliver for our shareholders,” Cohn said.
Malka also expressed his enthusiasm about joining the board, recognizing Apollo’s distinct approach to investment management and its role in the development of financial markets.
“I’ve long admired Apollo. They have a unique point of view and are building the future of the financial markets,” Malka said.
Supporting Apollo’s Continued Global Growth
Malka’s appointment comes as Apollo continues to operate across a broad spectrum of alternative investments and retirement services. The company’s investment management business provides strategies spanning investment-grade credit, private equity, and other opportunities across the risk-return spectrum. Through its integrated platform, Apollo also works with businesses seeking capital to support expansion, innovation, and long-term growth.
Its retirement services business, Athene, focuses on helping individuals achieve financial security through retirement savings products and providing solutions to institutional clients.
Apollo’s investment approach emphasizes long-term capital deployment, tailored financing solutions, and collaboration with the businesses and institutions it serves. The combination of asset management and retirement services gives the company exposure to a diverse range of investment needs and market opportunities.
As of June 30, 2026, Apollo reported approximately $1.05 trillion in assets under management, underscoring the scale of its global operations.
Malka’s experience in fintech entrepreneurship, digital financial services, and international investment could offer an additional perspective as Apollo navigates a financial landscape increasingly influenced by technology, changing customer expectations, and evolving capital requirements.
His appointment also reflects the continuing importance of board-level expertise that combines investment knowledge with practical experience in building and scaling businesses. With his addition taking effect in January 2027, Apollo will bring another established financial technology investor into its governance structure as the firm pursues its long-term growth objectives.
