Google I/O 2026 introduced Gemini Omni, AI Search Agents, smart glasses, Gemini 3.5 Flash, Android XR and next-gen AI tools.
Google officially concluded its highly anticipated I/O 2026 conference with a strong focus on AI-driven experiences, intelligent agents, advanced search capabilities, and next-generation wearable technology. The event showcased Google’s vision for an “agentic AI era,” where AI systems proactively assist users, automate complex tasks, and deeply integrate across products and services.
Google Introduces the Next Generation of AI Search
One of the biggest highlights from the event was Google’s announcement of a new era for AI Search. The company unveiled “Search Agents,” intelligent AI assistants capable of continuously monitoring information across the web and delivering personalized updates in real time.
These information agents can track topics ranging from apartment listings to sneaker releases, helping users stay updated automatically. According to Google, the agents work in the background 24/7, scanning blogs, news platforms, social media posts, finance updates, shopping data, and sports information to deliver synthesized insights and actionable recommendations.
Google also expanded agentic booking capabilities within Search, allowing users to discover and book experiences, restaurants, services, and local activities using conversational prompts. In selected categories such as beauty, pet care, and home repair, Search can even contact businesses on behalf of users.
AI-Powered Search Gets Interactive and Visual
Google announced that Search will soon include advanced generative UI capabilities powered by Gemini 3.5 Flash and its Antigravity platform. Instead of showing static search results, Google Search will dynamically generate interactive visuals, simulations, dashboards, graphs, and mini applications tailored to specific user queries.
The company revealed that these AI-powered interfaces will become available globally later this summer at no additional cost.
Google also confirmed expanded Personal Intelligence features in AI Mode, enabling users to securely connect Gmail, Google Photos, and soon Google Calendar to provide more personalized and context-aware assistance.
Gemini Omni Debuts With AI Video Creation Capabilities
Another major announcement at Google I/O 2026 was the introduction of Gemini Omni, a new multimodal AI model capable of generating content from virtually any input format.
The first release in the lineup, Gemini Omni Flash, can combine text, images, audio, and video inputs to create realistic AI-generated videos with conversational editing controls. Users can modify scenes, objects, styles, and storytelling elements using natural language prompts.
Google demonstrated Omni’s advanced understanding of physics, motion, and storytelling through realistic simulations, educational explainers, and creative visual sequences. The technology is being integrated into the Gemini app, Google Flow, and YouTube Shorts.
Intelligent Eyewear Powered by Gemini Arrives This Fall
Google also provided its biggest update yet on Android XR and intelligent eyewear. In partnership with Samsung, Gentle Monster, and Warby Parker, the company unveiled new AI-powered smart glasses designed to deliver hands-free assistance through Gemini.
The upcoming audio glasses will support features such as:
- Real-time navigation
- Voice messaging and calls
- Live language translation
- Photo and video capture
- AI-powered visual recognition
- Smart task execution
- App integrations with services like Uber and Doordash
Google confirmed the first generation of audio glasses will launch later this fall.
Gemini 3.5 Flash and Antigravity 2.0 Take Center Stage
Google introduced Gemini 3.5 Flash, describing it as one of its fastest and most efficient AI models to date. The company highlighted major improvements in coding, reasoning, long-task execution, and enterprise workflows.
Alongside the model, Google announced Antigravity 2.0, a new AI development platform designed for creating and managing autonomous AI agents capable of handling complex tasks in the background.
The company also previewed Gemini Spark, a personal AI agent that can proactively manage digital tasks, summarize updates, organize schedules, and operate continuously using cloud-based virtual machines.
AI Adoption Across Google Reaches Massive Scale
Google revealed that monthly AI token processing across its platforms has surged to over 3.2 quadrillion tokens per month, representing a sevenfold increase year-over-year.
The company also shared:
- More than 8.5 million developers now build with Gemini models every month
- AI Overviews in Search now serve over 2.5 billion monthly users
- AI Mode in Search has surpassed 1 billion monthly active users
- The Gemini app now exceeds 900 million monthly active users
Google additionally emphasized its infrastructure investments, announcing continued expansion of its TPU AI chips and large-scale data center capabilities to support future AI growth.
New AI Features Across YouTube, Docs and Workspace
Google introduced several additional AI-powered productivity tools during the keynote:
- “Ask YouTube,” a conversational AI search experience for finding relevant video content quickly
- “Docs Live,” enabling users to create and edit documents using voice commands
- “Google Pics,” a next-generation AI image editing platform
- “Daily Brief,” a personalized AI-powered digest inside Gemini
The company also expanded SynthID and Content Credentials technology to improve transparency around AI-generated content and deepfake detection.
