San Francisco, California, United States — September 2026: Lyft, Inc. (Nasdaq: LYFT) has appointed Michael Brous as Chief Financial Officer, effective September 28, 2026, adding an experienced internal leader with a background spanning finance, strategy, operations, growth and urban mobility to its executive team.
Brous will succeed Erin Brewer, who plans to retire and will remain with Lyft as an advisor through December 15, 2026, supporting the leadership transition.
Brous has been part of Lyft’s senior leadership team for nearly eight years and currently serves as Head of Lyft Urban Solutions (LUS) and Safety and Customer Care (SCC). His appointment comes as Lyft continues to scale its global mobility platform and expand its autonomous vehicle capabilities.
Nearly Eight Years of Leadership at Lyft
Brous joined Lyft in 2018 through the company’s acquisition of Motivate, where he served as Vice President of Finance. Since joining Lyft, he has held several senior leadership positions across the organization.
As Head of Lyft Urban Solutions, Brous has overseen the company’s micromobility business, which operates more than 195,000 bikes across 55 systems worldwide. The portfolio includes well-known bike-sharing programs such as Citi Bike in New York, Santander Cycles in London and Bicing in Barcelona.
During his leadership of the division, Brous helped scale e-bike offerings, improve asset uptime and utilization, and drive sustained double-digit growth in rides. He also secured renewals in key markets including London and San Francisco, introduced a next-generation e-bike and oversaw the planned acquisition of Serveo’s bikeshare business in Spain.
In his current role, Brous also leads Lyft’s Safety and Customer Care teams, which handle more than 1.5 million monthly interactions supporting riders and drivers.
Broad Finance and Business Experience
Brous has progressed through several leadership positions within Lyft Urban Solutions, including Head of Strategy and Growth, Co-Head of Operations and Head of Financial Planning & Analysis. His progression has given him experience across financial planning, business strategy, operational execution and growth.
Before joining Lyft, Brous served as VP of Finance at Motivate International Inc., where he played a role in the company’s acquisition by Lyft in 2018.
Earlier in his career, he held positions with REQX Ventures, Versa Capital Management and Financo, Inc., gaining experience across investment, private equity and financial advisory environments.
Brous holds a B.S. in Finance from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
Leadership at a New Stage for Lyft
Lyft CEO David Risher highlighted Brous’s financial discipline, operational experience and deep understanding of Lyft’s business and customers as key strengths behind the appointment.
For Brous, the move to CFO represents a return to his financial leadership roots while bringing the operational perspective he has developed through nearly eight years at Lyft. His combination of finance expertise and hands-on experience across mobility operations positions him to help guide the company’s financial strategy as it expands its platform and incorporates autonomous vehicles into its networks.
Brewer, who joined Lyft in 2023, will continue supporting the company during the transition. During her tenure, Lyft achieved GAAP profitability, generated more than $2 billion in free cash flow and delivered consistent profitable growth, according to the company.
